Joe Wilkins, the Biosphere's new Youth Representative, wants to hear from young people who want to help shape the future of our area. Read in Welsh.

Are you a young person living in/near the Dyfi Biosphere? Then we want to hear from you!
We have launched the first part of our Dyfi Biosphere Youth Consultation, giving the next generation a real say in how this stunning, UNESCO-recognised area develops. Whether you’re passionate about climate action, local wildlife, sustainable business, or just love the place you call home, this is your chance to get involved.
If you live in or around Machynlleth, Aberystwyth, or the Dyfi Valley, you’re in a UNESCO Biosphere—which basically means it’s a place recognised worldwide for its incredible nature, culture, and sustainability efforts. The Dyfi Biosphere is all about balancing people, planet, and progress, but to keep things moving in the right direction, young people need to be part of the conversation.
So, What’s the Youth Consultation About?
This consultation is all about giving young people a voice in the Biosphere’s future. It’s an open invitation to share your ideas, concerns, and vision for what comes next. That could mean:
Taking action on climate change and nature loss—because, let’s be honest, it’s our future at stake.
Boosting green jobs—finding ways to support young people in sustainable careers.
Strengthening the community—making sure young people are connected and empowered.
Exploring education & skills—creating more learning opportunities around sustainability and conservation.
What’s Next?
We have just published a simple online survey to ask you to share your initial thoughts, experiences, and hopes for the future of the Biosphere.

Over the coming months, there will be workshops, events, more surveys, and hands-on projects. We want to ensure that young people can play a bigger role in shaping the Biosphere’s future. Keep an eye out for opportunities to share your ideas and get involved.
